Andre J. Menzies
Andre J Menzies is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. He is currently employed as the Safety Director for Metro Disposal of New Orleans. Mr. Menzies has been in law enforcement since 1978, where he has held many positions. Currently, he is a Captain of the New Orleans Police Department Reserve Division, where he is assigned to the Field Operations Bureau.
Mr. Menzies served as the Chief of Public Safety of Dillard University in New Orleans, from 2009 until 2013. As Chief of Public Safety he was responsible for directing, commanding and organizing campus police department. He established and implemented department strategic goals, policies and procedures, and training as well as personnel, training, and discipline. He coordinated with New Orleans Police Department community policy issues in adjacent neighborhood and policing of off campus housing sites. From 2008 to 2009 he served as Dillard’s Operations Commander. Under his leadership he was responsible for ensuring emergency service procedures, disaster plans, and ensuring communications established by the university were followed. He was also responsible for maintaining crime and public safety records and data.
Mr. Menzies has worked as an undercover Narcotics Agent in Hancock County Mississippi, Deputy Sheriff for Jefferson Parish, Metairie, Louisiana, Director of Security for the New Orleans Centre, and Director of Security for New Orleans Housing Authority.
In 2012 he was elected as the President of HBCU (Historical Black Colleges and Universities) Law Enforcement Executives & Administrative. He served as an expert panelist on the White House Initiative, and a member of the City of New Orleans Emergency Operation Center.
